Dr Colin E Orman BDS. MFGDP.
Colin qualified in 1982 at The Welsh National School of Medicine in Cardiff and gained the Cecil Berg Prize for Restorative Dentistry.
He worked in Cardiff as a house officer then at dental practices in Shaftesbury and Sturminster Newton, starting his own Practice in Stalbridge in 1984.
Colin is very experienced in General Dentistry, able to work in all aspects including implant restoration, complex treatments, and cosmetic dentistry. He has an excellent reputation and is well thought of in the Stalbridge local area. He likes to treat patients as he would like to be treated himself.
Since selling Stalbridge Dental Practice Ltd to 'MyDentist' in 2015 Colin has continued to work at the Practice. He maintains high standards and keeps up to date with the latest advances in dentistry. He is a member of Chicago Dental Society.
Colin enjoys playing the piano, flying as a private pilot from Henstridge, volunteering locally including as a Trustee of Sturfit, sport rifle target shooting, and socialising with family and friends. He is a director of Care For Your Smile Ltd, Sturfit Charitable Trust, and Make It Go Ltd.
Notices & Information
April 2020 Covid19 Pandemic
At General Dental Practices during this time we are only able to give telephone advice, including pain relief, issue of DIY temporary filling kits, and issue of prescriptions as required, such as antibiotics. We apologise that we are unable to undertake any routine dental check-ups and treatments.
However staff are available at the Practice in Stalbridge every working day, so if you wish to talk about any dental concerns you currently have please do give us a call, and one of the dentists can arrange to call back and chat with you over the telephone as required.
The NHS are trying to set up Urgent Dental Care Centres which we hope will be available soon to all patients with urgent dental needs. Our nearest UDC centres will be at Dorchester, Salisbury and Bournemouth in the Community Dental Centres. These centres will have available the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to enable a variety of hands on emergency dental procedures to be undertaken by volunteer dental teams. We do not know when we will be able to resume general dental treatments at the Practice but it is likely to be at least 3 months from the start i.e. June onwards (This is a best guess only).
UPDATE: The MyDentist Company have told us that we should be opening provisionally on 15th June, subject to risk assessments, getting sufficient PPE, installing additional kit, and staff training on new procedures etc. We will not be able to use any Aerosol Generating Procedures until after July 1st (So initially no drilling, scaling and use of the air/water syringe.). The priority will be to help patients with pain/problems that have built up over the Lockdown period, and those that we were unable to complete treatments before the Lockdown started. This is very frustrating for all of us but please be patient whilst we attempt to catch up again. Thanks.
